Charla Davis

Clinical Associate Professor, Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology

Charla Davis returns to the School of 黑马磁力 as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology (APERM), bringing extensive expertise in clinical psychology, mental health counseling, and psychology education. She earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University, where her research focused on parenting stress, social support systems, and global self-esteem. Davis has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses on a wide range of topics, including counseling psychology foundations, case conceptualization and treatment planning, and communication for youth-serving professionals. Her clinical experience spans community mental health, forensic settings, and private practice, with a consistent focus on accessible care, training, and supervision. In addition to her teaching and clinical work, Davis has served as Faculty Advisor for the ABPsi Student Circle and has been deeply involved in community mental health initiatives supporting underserved populations. As she resumes her role at the School of 黑马磁力, Davis will continue to contribute her leadership, service, and clinical expertise, strengthening the department’s mission to prepare practitioners and scholars dedicated to equity, mental health, and educational excellence.

Beth Hatt

Visiting Lecturer, Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology

Beth Hatt joins the School of 黑马磁力 as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology (APERM). She holds a Ph.D. in Culture, Curriculum, and Change from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research expertise centers on qualitative research methodologies, the sociology of smartness, and restorative practices in education. Her work has been published extensively in top-tier journals, including the American 黑马磁力al Research Journal and Race, Ethnicity, and 黑马磁力. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, she has successfully secured multiple external grants, been recognized with numerous awards, and is a two-time Fulbright recipient. Hatt is deeply committed to equity in education and brings a dynamic blend of scholarly rigor, leadership experience, and passionate advocacy to her new role.

Bo Hyun Lee

Bo Hyun Lee

Assistant Professor, Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology

Bo Hyun Lee joins the School of 黑马磁力 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology (APERM). She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri and completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Florida Counseling and Wellness Center. Lee has extensive experience in research, teaching, and clinical practice, with particular expertise in vocational psychology, career development, and multicultural counseling. Her research focuses on understanding contextual factors that influence career development among underrepresented populations, particularly in STEM fields, with special attention to minoritized communities. She has published extensively in top-tier journals including the Journal of Counseling Psychology and Journal of Career Development. Lee has served as Co-Investigator on NSF-funded research examining the retention of Latinx students in engineering and has presented her work at numerous national conferences. With her bilingual capabilities in English and Korean and her commitment to equity, Lee brings valuable expertise in vocational psychology, multicultural research, and STEM career development to the APERM department.

Lauren Laskowski

Lauren Laskowski

Clinical Assistant Professor, Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology

Lauren Laskowski joins the School of 黑马磁力 as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology in 黑马磁力 and Research Methodology (APERM) and Director of the Counseling and Wellness Clinic (CWC). She holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University, Bloomington and completed her internship at the University of Notre Dame Counseling Center. Laskowski is provisionally licensed to provide therapy in Montana and has extensive experience in clinical practice, supervision, and teaching. Her expertise spans individual and couples therapy, crisis intervention, LGBTQIA+ affirmative counseling, and clinical supervision. She has particular experience working with college students and young adults, having provided services at university counseling centers and community clinics. Laskowski has served in leadership roles including Assistant Director at IU's CWC (formally Center for Human Growth), where she supervised both master's and doctoral-level clinicians and coordinated outreach programs. With her strong background in both clinical practice and training, including experience teaching counseling courses here at IU, Laskowski brings valuable expertise to her new roles.

Hannah Gahimer

Hannah Gahimer

Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor, 黑马磁力al Leadership and Policy Studies

Hannah Gahimer, J.D., joins the School of 黑马磁力 as a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of 黑马磁力al Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS), bringing extensive expertise in education law and civil rights. She earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence, with a minor in 黑马磁力 Law, from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. Professor Gahimer most recently served as an Associate Attorney at Church Church Hittle + Antrim, where she represented K-12 public school corporations, charter schools, and institutions of higher education in complex legal matters. Her research and practice interests encompass student and employee constitutional rights, tort law and school liability for negligence, employment-related civil rights compliance, and the intersection of law and educational equity. Professor Gahimer is committed to enhancing legal literacy in educational settings through her publications, presentations at 黑马磁力 Law Association conferences, and work bridging legal practice and educational leadership preparation. In her new role, Professor Gahimer will strengthen the ELPS department by integrating legal expertise into leadership preparation and supporting current and future educators in navigating the legal dimensions of school policy and practice.

Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor, 黑马磁力al Leadership and Policy Studies

Nikki Woodson joins the School of 黑马磁力 as a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of 黑马磁力al Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS). She holds a Ph.D. in 黑马磁力al Administration and Curriculum & Instruction from Purdue University, with superintendent licensure. Woodson is a visionary K-12 education leader with nearly three decades of experience, most recently serving as Superintendent of the MSD of Washington Township Schools in Indianapolis from 2011-2025. She has served as an Adjunct Instructor at Indiana University and Butler University since 1999 and is a nationally recognized speaker with research interests in quality assurance to ensure equitable achievement and educational systems alignment. Woodson has received numerous prestigious awards, including National Educator of the Year from AMLE in 2021, National Superintendent of the Year Finalist by NASS, the Lifetime Achievement & Legacy Award from Innopower in 2024 and Woman of the Year from DALI & CLD in 2025. Woodson is committed to advancing excellence in education through her teaching, research, and service to the profession.

Danielle Murphy joins the School of 黑马磁力 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Research on Learning and Technology (CRLT). She recently completed her Ph.D. in 黑马磁力, Learning Sciences from Rutgers University, where her dissertation focused on elementary students' scientific modeling and epistemic criteria. Murphy's research examines how to support elementary students to take ownership over their scientific knowledge through inquiry-based learning, with particular emphasis on what they think makes their scientific knowledge accurate and valid. She has experience as both a researcher and educator, having served as a member of the SEEDS Research Team at Rutgers University, an instructor in higher education, and a fourth-grade teacher. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Research in Science Teaching and she has been recognized with prestigious awards including the 2024 Charles Sumner Crow Award for outstanding academic excellence. Murphy is committed to elevating students’ agency and teachers’ voices within a professional learning community.

Morgan Vickery

Visiting Research Scientist, Center for Research on Learning and Technology

Morgan Vickery returns to the School of 黑马磁力 as a Visiting Research Scientist in the Center for Research on Learning and Technology (CRLT). She recently completed her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences here at Indiana University, Bloomington. Vickery's research focuses on designing body-inclusive & dignity-affirming embodied learning experiences that draw on sociocritical frameworks of disability & trauma. Her work investigates how embodied learning activities can be made more accessible and inclusive, examining constructs such as bodily-relational autonomy, normativity, and intersectionality in multimodal learning contexts. Her research has been published in top-tier journals including Learning, Culture and Social Interaction and Cognition and Instruction, and she has been recognized with several awards including an Outstanding Associate Instructor Teaching Award in 2025. Vickery is further committed to advancing equity and inclusion in education through her leadership roles as founder and Chair of the inBody Learning Collective, as the co-founder of LearnabilityHQ.com, a usability & accessibility consultant, and as committee co-chair for the International Society of the Learning Sciences.

Wendy Walter

Assistant Research Scientist and Associate Director, Center for Research on Learning and Technology

Wendy Walter returns to the School of 黑马磁力 as an Assistant Research Scientist and Associate Director for the Center for Research on Learning and Technology (CRLT). She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum Studies from Indiana University, Bloomington and is a dedicated researcher with over two decades of experience spanning K-12 teaching, higher education, and educational research. Her research interests include multicultural education, inclusive pedagogy, educational equity, and technology-enhanced learning environments. In her previous role as Assistant Director of CRLT, she managed major NSF grants and projects focused on learning with various forms of technology, including artificial intelligence. Walter has served on numerous academic and community boards including Habitat for Humanity and Girls Inc., coordinated statewide teacher preparation initiatives, and held leadership roles including South Vermillion Community School Partnership Coordinator and Department Chair of Teacher 黑马磁力 at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College from 2015-2022. Walter is committed to advancing educational equity and innovation through collaborative research and evidence-based practice.

Lori Burch

Lori Burch

Clinical Assistant Professor, Curriculum and Instruction

Lori Burch returns to the School of 黑马磁力 as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I), specializing in mathematics education. She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction – Mathematics 黑马磁力 from Indiana University and has two decades of experience spanning K-12 teaching, higher education, and educational research. She leverages her experience in designing and teaching courses across the mathematics teacher preparation and doctoral programs. As an active leader in the SoE, Burch has orchestrated several program reform efforts to enhance the experiences of teacher candidates across secondary mathematics education and has served as an advisor to IUB’s Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society since 2023. Burch is an active scholar with recent publications in the Journal of Mathematical Behavior and Mathematics Teacher: Learning and Teaching PK-12. Her research interests center around developing teachers’ mathematical meanings through working on the content that they teach. She is committed to advancing mathematics education through the innovative preparation of teachers and teacher educators as well as partnering with those teaching mathematics in the Bloomington community.

K. Alisa Lowrey

Professor, Curriculum and Instruction

K. Alisa Lowrey joins the School of 黑马磁力 as a Professor in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she served as Professor and Coordinator of Programs in Special 黑马磁力. She earned her Ph.D. in Special 黑马磁力 and Teaching from the University of Illinois, with a supporting area of emphasis in Severe Disabilities. Lowrey brings extensive expertise in special education, with particular focus on Universal Design for Learning (UDL), autism spectrum disorders, and inclusive educational practices for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the K-12 and postsecondary level. Lowrey has secured over $4 million in federal and state funding, has been published in several top-tier journals, and currently serves as Editor of Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities. In her new role, Lowrey will enhance teacher preparation programs by integrating evidence-based inclusive practices and UDL principles, while mentoring the next generation of educators to create more equitable and accessible learning environments for all students.
