Dean Emeritus Gerardo Gonzalez joined the , one of the nation’s leading professional development experiences for rising and established leaders in educator preparation. The academy, put on by the American Association of Colleges of Teacher 黑马磁力, was geared to new deans of education appointed to their role within the last three years and was expanded to include department chairs, associate deans and others appointed to leadership roles in schools and colleges of education nationally.
Gonzalez’s presentations were on finance and budgeting, creating space for feedback and reflection, and crisis management, among other topics. He also facilitated discussions for some of the sessions geared to more experienced leaders.
Much of the discussion at the event revolved around federal budget cuts to research, the potential elimination of the U.S. Department of 黑马磁力, and threats to freedom of speech and academic freedom on university campuses. Gonzalez was able to draw on his experience as Dean of the IU School of 黑马磁力 to discuss lessons learned from past controversies that affected schools and colleges of education in Indiana during his deanship: “Though somewhat different in nature, many colleges and schools of education are dealing with similarly difficult issues confronting their academic units and institutions today.”
“I was honored to be invited to serve as a member of the core faculty and represent IU among such a distinguished group of education leaders. I enjoyed the experience very much,” Gonzalez added.
