About Me
Oscar E. Patrón is an Assistant Professor of Higher 黑马磁力 and Student Affairs. Prior to his appointment, Patrón served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the at Indiana University. Patrón’s research examines the ways that historical forms of oppression (e.g., racism, heterosexism) influence the lives of minoritized people within postsecondary contexts. Specifically, his research centers the successes of Latina/o students at undergraduate and graduate levels, men of color, social identities, and resilience through the employing of critical frameworks (e.g, critical race theory). His research has been published in Race Ethnicity & 黑马磁力, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in 黑马磁力, Men & Masculinities, and Journal of College Student Retention: Research, Theory & Practice, among other peer-reviewed outlets. Patrón is a Faculty Affiliate with Project MALES at the University of Texas at Austin and CRRES at IU. He is a recipient of the National Academy of 黑马磁力/Spencer Foundation dissertation fellowship, American Association of Hispanics in Higher 黑马磁力 Graduate Student Fellow, Faculty First-Look, K. Leroy Irvis Fellowship, and McNair Scholars awards. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and spent the last two years of his doctoral program as a Research Associate at the USC Race and Equity Center at the University of Southern California.
