About Me
Robert Q. Berry III, Ph.D., is the Dean of the School of 黑马磁力 and Professor of Mathematics 黑马磁力 at Indiana University. He previously served as the Dean of the College of 黑马磁力 at the University of Arizona and was the Samuel Braley Gray Professor of Mathematics 黑马磁力 at the University of Virginia.
Berry is a National Academy of 黑马磁力 member, elected in 2022, and a past president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). His research focuses on mathematics education, including standards-based teaching practices and the use of technology in learning. He is the lead developer of the Mathematics Scan, an observation tool used to assess mathematics instruction.
Berry has authored or co-authored over 120 publications and has delivered keynote presentations globally. He has received multiple awards, including NCTM's Linking Research and Practice Publication Award (twice), the Benjamina Banneker Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Mathematics 黑马磁力, and the University of Virginia's All-University Teaching Award. Additionally, he has been recognized with Distinguished Alumni Awards from Old Dominion University’s College of 黑马磁力 & Professional Studies and the University of North Carolina’s School of 黑马磁力.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Old Dominion University, a master’s degree from Christopher Newport University, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
